Welcome to Reception
There are 2 classes in Reception this year - Tyne and Tamar.
The class teachers are Mrs Lister (Tamar) and Miss Douse (Tyne). Miss Goodwill will return from maternity leave to teach Tyne in 2019.
Our teaching assistants are Mrs Johnson, Mrs Eleftheriou, and Miss Hall.
For information on starting school please see the documents from the Welcome to Reception Meeting which can be found in the 'Letters and Information' section of the Reception class page.
Our topic this term is 'Winter' and 'Traditional Tales'.
We are so thrilled with how the Autumn term went and how well the children settled into their new class at Poppleton Ousebank Primary School. They are doing an absolutely wonderful job coming into school and have learnt the new rules and routines. As their confidence has grown, so has their learning and independence. We are looking forward to the term ahead to continue supporting them in their learning and development!
There is so much to look forward to this term. Please see weekly and termly newsletters for more information and important dates.
Some things to look forward to are:
- Visits to Poppleton Library
- Winter walks
- Chinese New Year
-Making pancakes for the big bad wolf!
-Designing and making a boat for the gingerbread man!
-World Book Day
(Dates and details can be found on Newsletters)
Some of the other activities we will be doing this term are:
- Looking at our Learning Journeys to reflect on Reception so far
- Creating our own winter paintings
- Reading lots of traditional tales and exploring some stories with alternative endings
- Understanding rules and routines
- Learning all about Winter (and Spring later on in March)

It's going to be an exciting term with lots of fun activities and engaging learning opportunities! We can't wait!

Each week we send out a newsletter. These are uploaded to the web site each week. You will find them in the 'Letters and Information' section.
We will also add photographs of our activities in the gallery section.
