Here at POPS, we feel that transparency is paramount in building trust between our families and school. For this reason, we would like to inform you of the following.
Earlier today, our school received a bomb threat email. We reported the email immediately, not just to the relevant agencies required, but also to other York schools. It would appear that other schools locally, regionally and nationally received the same email.
Having looked at the incidents, North Yorkshire Police believe that there is no genuine threat and that the emails were a hoax. In school, we have protocols in place for such situations and following the information provided, we were confident that we did not need to contact parents or panic anyone.
The safety of pupils and staff is of paramount importance and we are following the police’s advice, which is to continue school as normal. It is unfortunate that the times in which we live are very different to those when we were children. As a school, we continue to be vigilant both on and off site when working with pupils.
